Recipe for disaster soup?
Had a really nice message from Linda (a mom in Canada). She has a 13 year old Aspie, she describes as “different in a Sheldon Cooper” kind of way. He struggled at school, in fact he hated it. Way too academically smart. And the opposite with social skills. Seems like recipe for disaster soup? Well read on my faithful friend . . .
This year he enrolled in a private catholic school.
One month in – he LOVES it (yay!)
He gets on with peers.
Plays on the volleyball team.
And best of all (maybe) the teachers have weekly meetings . . .
share information . . . and encourage Linda’s email (imagine that?!)
Linda ends by saying “I feel like I am just straight out bragging
about how good we have it now! Hahaha! Every day I look forward
to your emails, there is always something I take away from them!
Thank you!”
Great to hear.
A real life school doing real life things in a positive way.
Encouraging the pupil with Asperger’s and listening to his
parents.
Not sure if that’s your experience?
I know for many it CERTAINLY isn’t.
But hope this provides a little hope/inspiration; how things
*can* (and definitely should) be.
